Human Resource Management
A project manager is trying to settle a dispute between two team members. One says the system should be integrated before testing, and the other maintains each system should be tested before integration. The project involves over 30 people, and 12 systems need to be integrated. The sponsor is demanding that integration happen on time. What is the BEST statement the project manager can make to resolve the conflict?
A. Do it my way.
B. Let's calm down and get the job done.
C. Let's deal with this again next week after we all calm down.
D. Let's do limited testing before implementation and finish testing after implementation.
Vadim (2½years ago):
My answer is D.Let's do limited testing before implementation and finish testing after implementation. Obviously, both systems and integration testing should be planned and performed. And Project Manager should claim this during conflict resolution. Options A-C seem not to resolve conflict, but hide or push it.
george (2½years ago):
I think it's B. The conflict resolution strategies are:
A: Forcing
B: Problem solving
C: Withdrawal
D: Compromise
The BEST technique is problem solving. Although answer D looks like a good strategy it will produce the WORST result, because neither the testing nor the integration will be done properly.
angel (10months ago):
Choice D (compromising).
choice B (Soothing), no real solution is proposed.
