Meetings | Problem Solving
During a team meeting, the team has been arguing about the method of integration for over 20 minutes without getting anywhere. The project manager reschedules the issue for the next team meeting. This is an example of:
A. compromising.
B. forcing.
C. smoothing.
D. withdrawal.
george (8½months ago):
Withdrawal, I think. Answer is D.
A: Compromising = "Let's use the method A, but sometimes method B"
B: Forcing = "We will use method A, because I say so, period"
C: Smoothing = "Let's use method A, but if you think B is better, we can use it also"
All of them, including withdrawal, are ineffective. The root cause of this situation is in defective planning of problem solving, done by PM.
